November 26, 2024

Tired of painting, replacing, and maintaining your fence? It’s time to go vinyl with Freedom Outdoor Living.

Compared to wood, our vinyl fences have an exceptionally long lifespan and are much easier to clean and maintain. Here are some tips on how to care for your vinyl fence.

Cleaning vinyl is a relatively simple process.

To keep your fence looking as new as possible, we recommend occasionally spraying it with a hose to remove grass clippings, fertilizer chemicals, or dirt. If necessary, you may have to wash dirt of with a mild soap and water solution. For minor stains, use a non-abrasive liquid cleaner.

And when it comes to major stains, we suggest trying one of the following cleaning agents:

  • Simple Green
  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  • Mineral Spirits
  • Trichloroethylene
  • CLR (Calcium, Lime, and Rust Cleaner)
  • Vinegar

Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s directions when using these products. Also, we don’t recommend using Goof Off to remove stains.

Maintenance is the key to maximizing the life of your fence.

Here are a few maintenance tips to keep it in tip-top shape:

  • Every spring season, adjust the gate and use a level to make sure it’s not sagging.
  • Oil the hinges and tighten all the screws once a year.
  • Keep your gate secured to prevent it from swinging in the wind.
  • Do not let children swing on the gate.
  • If a post becomes loose, you may need to re-tamp and realign it.
